The changes come following allegations of misappropriation of funds by some county officials.

In a statement, Governor Sang confirmed that investigations have shown that there was indeed leadership and management lapses leading to under performance by the Education and Transport and Infrastructure departments.

“The findings of the audit indicated leadership and management lapses leading to under performance by the said departments. This has necessitated changes and restructuring in Government in order to stay in the course our transformational agenda,” the statement reads.

Sang said that he had subsequently accepted the resignation of Eng. Hillary Koech who was the County Executive for Transport and Infrastructure and Mr. Stanley Baliach who served as the County Executive for Lands, Environment and Natural Resources.

The government further said he had dismissed the County Executive Member for Education and Vocational Training Ms. Valentine Chumo and her place taken by Daniel Kibet Sang. Mr Sang was cleared after he underwent a disciplinary committee.

Sang also nominated new County Executives as follows; Dr. Philemon Bureti (CEC Lands, Environment and Natural Resources), Eng. Drice Rono (CEC Transport and Infrastructure), Ms. Grace Sugut (CEC Education).

Those appointed as Chief Officers are; Solomon Maangira (CO Lands, Environment and Natural Resources), Sally Kemboi (CO Water and Sanitation), Scolastica Tuwei (CO Social Service) and Dr. Paul Lagat (CO Health).

Governor Sang has also forwarded the name of Dr Francis Sang to the County Assembly for vetting. If approved Dr Sang will be the County Secretary.
